Gastric Balloon
A gastric balloon is a balloon that is endoscopically placed into the stomach to allow patients to experience early satiety and dietary adherence by occupying space in the stomach.
This procedure is suitable for a patient between the ages of 18 and 55 who does not lose weight when dieting and whose BMI is greater than 27.
Gastric balloon surgery is not suitable for patients with severe gastric ulcers who have had part or all of their stomach removed or who have had a significant gastric rupture.
Symptoms of nausea and vomiting can be observed in her first week after gastric ballooning. In addition, there are almost no side effects that affect daily life and health. If symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting do not resolve within a week, in most cases the balloon does not need to be removed. This condition is seen as the stomach rejecting the balloon.
Gastric balloon surgery is an endoscopic procedure in which the balloon is inserted through the mouth and into the stomach, so there are no sutures or scars.
A gastric balloon is inserted in him in a 15 minutes procedure and he can leave the hospital in 1 to 2 hours. There is no need for hospitalization and you can return to your daily routine on the same day.
